List of over 100 different names for Sugar

Sugar can be found hiding everywhere in the foods we eat and sometimes tries to appear in disguise. Here is a list of well over 100 names for Sugar.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends reducing free sugar intake at all stages of life to under 10 percent of physical calories to reduce the risk of unhealthy weight gain and tooth decay. This equals a maximum of 50g of sugar per day for the average adult – 10 teaspoons for a calorie intake of 2,000 calories.

In addition, WHO believes a further reduction in free sugar intake to less than 5 percent of energy – no more than 5 teaspoons sugar for adults per day would be sensible.
